Reference: PR16067

Sector: Other Nursing Disciplines

Salary: Salary negotiable

Town/City: Elgin – Highland

Contract Type: Full Time

We are seeking to recruit a full time clinical psychologist who is enthusiastic about helping meet the needs of older people in Moray. In addition to addressing mental health issues in older adults, the postholder will also assist in providing cognitive assessment and dementia-related psychological services within mental health in collaboration with staff already in post. Full support and training will be provided for skill development in further therapeutic modalities recognised to address the psychological needs of older people, depending on the interests of the successful applicant.

A key aspect of this clinical post will include supporting nursing staff and others to utilise NES interventions for mental health, including stress and distress in dementia and Behavioural Activation for depression. Services cover our community-based population, often in collaboration with CMHT colleagues, as well as service users across secondary, tertiary and independent care settings.

The department has strong links with the University of Edinburgh clinical psychology training programme, and the successful applicant would have the opportunity to contribute to the teaching and supervision of doctoral trainees.  Opportunities also exist for involvement in other areas of teaching: staff members in Grampian currently contribute to the training programmes of medical undergraduate and post-graduate students, CBT Therapists, and AHP programmes at the University of Aberdeen and Robert Gordon University.  A number of research opportunities exist within Grampian and there is on-going clinical research interest within the department in collaboration with academic and professional colleagues across Scotland.

This post offers excellent career opportunities for professional and specialist skill development across a diverse clinical population.  Newly-qualified clinical psychologists are encouraged to apply, and would be provided with mentoring from senior staff within the dept, as required.
